BRUNSWICK, Ga.– The Thomas University track and field team had outstanding performances Saturday morning at the first annual Golden Isle Relays. The men's team finished in second overall, while the women's team finished in fourth overall.
On the women's side, Freshman Ihsana Haines competed in the 100-meter dash. The Lawrenceville, Georgia native finished in second place with a time of (13.95). Junior Matti Campbell came behind Haines, finishing in third place with a time of (14.29). The Crystal River, Florida native also competed in the long jump, taking first place with a height of (4.95) meters.
Sophomore Jennifer Coleman competed in the Discus throw. The Thomasville, Georgia native finished in second place with a new school and personal record of (34.91) meters.
On the men's side, Sophomore Devin Crews competed in the 400-meter dash, finishing in second place with a time of (50.56). The Ocala, Florida native also competed in the 200-meter dash, finishing in second place with a time of (23.56). Freshman Keyon Joyce finished right behind Crews, taking third place with a time of (23.56).
Sophomore Colin Daniels competed in the 800-meter dash, taking third place with a time of (2:11.87). Freshman Justin Tomison followed behind Daniels, taking fourth place with a time (2:12.79).
Grad Student Andrew Smith competed in the 1500-meter run, taking first place with a new personal best of (4:07.96). Junior Andrew Guillory took second place with a time of (4:32.79). Tomison finished behind Guillory, taking third place with a time of (4:32.79). Sophomore Nijal Sanders followed behind Tomison, finishing in fourth place with a time of (4:41.29).
The 4x400-meter relay team saw a new personal best from Freshman Terond Colebrook, Freshman Timothy Tulloch, Keyon Joyce and Devin Crews. The Night Hawks took first place with a time of (3:28.59).
The 4x800-relay team also saw a new personal best. Colin Daniels, Terond Colebrook, Andrew Guillory and Andrew Smith took first place with a time of (8:36.14).
Freshman Garrett Rhoads competed in the Shot Put (10.08 meters) and Discus (41.01 meters). The Jacksonville, Florida native saw new personal and school records in both events. Rhoads finished in first place in the Discus and took second place in the Shot Put. Freshman Kevin Hernandez finished fourth in the Shot Put with a new personal best of (10.07 meters).
