THOMASVILLE, Ga. - Thomas University wrapped up a historic 2026 indoor track and field season highlighted by five new school records, multiple additions to the program's all‑time top‑10 list and several conference academic and character honors. The Night Hawks now turn their attention to a competitive outdoor schedule that begins next week.
The indoor season produced five school records, beginning with Connor Munn, who set new standards in the shot put and weight throw. Munn established the school shot put record at the SSAC Indoor Championships on Feb. 21 with a mark of 13.03 meters, while his weight throw record of 9.95 meters came earlier in the season at the Visit Gainesville Indoor Classic on Feb. 6. In the jumps, Ean Miller delivered two record‑setting performances at the Alachua County Invitational on Jan. 30, clearing 1.95 meters in the high jump and hitting 6.65 meters in the long jump. Jerry Speights added the fifth school record of the season in the triple jump, posting a mark of 14.05 meters at the Visit Gainesville Indoor Classic on Feb. 6.
Several Night Hawks earned spots on the SSAC All‑Academic Team, including Nelson Lopez, Connor Munn and Jerry Speights. The program's SSAC Champions of Character selections were Abreya Lee and Landon Watts.
The Night Hawks also produced a strong collection of all-time top‑10 performances for the program throughout the season. In the sprints, Jayson Evans moved to No. 6 all‑time in the 60 meters with a time of 7.17 at the Visit Gainesville Indoor Classic and No. 7 all‑time in the 200 meters with a 22.48 performance at the SSAC Indoor Championships. Middle‑distance standout Landon Watts climbed to No. 4 in the 800 meters with his 2:03.21 at the Visit Gainesville Indoor Classic and posted the No. 5 1,000‑meter time in program history with a 2:44.25 at the Alachua County Invitational on Jan. 23. Teammates Nelson Lopez (2:47.07) and Glenn Walker (3:06.97) added the No. 6 and No. 8 times in the event, both set at the SSAC Championships.
Watts also recorded the No. 5 all‑time mile mark at 4:37.55 at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational on Jan. 15, while Walker added the No. 8 mile time of 5:08.43 at the same meet. In the 3,000 meters, Watts logged the second‑fastest time in school history with a 9:14.25 at the Alachua County Invitational, followed by Walker's third‑fastest mark of 10:26.15 at the same meet. The distance medley relay team of Lopez, Fabian Jeune, Walker and Watts posted the No. 2 time in program history, running 11:27.77 on Feb. 20.
With a strong indoor season behind them, the Night Hawks now shift focus to the outdoor campaign. Thomas University begins its outdoor schedule March 19–20 at the UNF River City Relays in Jacksonville, Fla., followed by the Terry Long FSU Relays in Tallahassee on March 26–27. The April slate includes the Doc Anderson Troy Invitational on April 3–4, the Dick Roberts Seminole Invitational in Tallahassee on April 10–11 and the Alice Coachman Invitational in Albany, Ga., on April 11. The SSAC Outdoor Championships are set for April 20–21 in Gulf Shores, Ala. The Night Hawks compete in one more regular season last chance meet at the UNF East Coast Relays in Jacksonville on May 1–2 before potential qualifiers compete at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships, scheduled for May 20–22 in Asheville, N.C.
