THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Head Coach
Orlando Mitjans Jr. recently announced that the Thomas University military transition football team has brought Andy Wolfrum on staff to become the Night Hawks' defensive coordinator.
Wolfrum comes to the Green & White after spending the previous eight seasons at the helm of the United States Military Academy Preparatory School's football program. The Army veteran compiled a 47-13 overall record at USMAPS, including 5-2 slates against Air Force Prep and Navy Prep. Wolfrum guided his team to the first-ever Service Academy Prep Commander-in-Chief's championship title in 2017. In addition to head coaching duties, Wolfrum was responsible for running Special Teams.
Prior to USMAPS, Wolfrum managed Defensive Quality Control at Army West Point and the University of Louisville. At both institutions, Wolfrum gained a wealth of experience in film breakdown and scouting reports. Previous to his respective DQC positions, Wolfrum served as a Defensive Graduate Assistant coach at the University of Akron, managing Defensive and Special Teams' quality controls for the Zips.
"We are thrilled to welcome Andy Wolfrum" said Mitjans. "He's a veteran coach with Head experience at the prep school at West Point. I had a chance to work with him in 2015; (Wolfrum) has a great defensive mind. The players will enjoy playing in his defensive scheme."
The Wyomissing, Pa. native graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor's of Science in Economics before receiving his Master's in Sports Science & Coaching at the University of Akron.
Wolfrum and his wife, Shannon, will reside in Thomasville, Ga. with their two sons, Robert and Riley.
