LEBANON, Tenn. – The Thomas University Women's soccer team's first road contest of the season was cut short Saturday afternoon due to lightning strikes within the perimeter of Kirk Field at Lindsey Donnell Stadium in the 54th minute of the match.
Before the thunder, Cumberland led Thomas 3-1. TU's lone goal was recorded in the 17th minute, as Senior
Matti Campbell hit top shelf, firing a shot over Phoenix goalkeeper Sabrina Graziano for the contest's first score.
"Overall, we played very well" recapped Head Coach
Julie Orlowski. "I am very disappointed we didn't get to show what we were made of in the second half. Cumberland's staff was a class act."
The Night Hawks are back on the road Friday, as the team travels to Rome, Ga. to face NCAA DII affiliate Shorter University. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
