THOMASVILLE, Ga. - The Thomas University Night Hawks cruised to a 17-0 victory over the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Finnies at the TU Soccer Complex on Thursday night, seeing
Jule Rohleder,
Emily Boles and
Makenna Casner finish their days with hat tricks while three more had braces.
Thomas (7-4-2, 5-3-1 SSAC) was ferocious throughout, taking 53 total shots on the evening, scoring seven times in the first half and the final ten in the remaining period.
Sergio Rapuano's defense held the Finnies to just two total shots with
Chantelle Thomson (7-4-2) starting in net before
Kennedi Warren-Young and
Niamh Curzons saw time in the box. Curzons recorded the lone save for TU.Â
Pearl Mortimer lifted the Night Hawks in the seventh minute with a close shot after a pass sent over by
Mistie Fox-Barker. Seven minutes later,
Jule Rohleder found Mortimer for the score to give Thomas an early 2-0 advantage with the senior's seventh goal of the year.
In the 18th minute, Fox-Barker added another assist to her name when
Jordyn Keene delivered a strike to the back of the net. Eight ticks after that, Keene paid it forward by connecting with Rohleder for her first of the night. Fox-Barker then capped off a three-assist night in the 34th frame with
Makenna Casner streaking through defenders for the score.Â
Boles got on the board in the 41st minute after finishing off a nice series of passes from Mortimer and Rohleder; the duo each showcasing flashy moves to quickly move the ball down the pitch. Not more than two minutes later, Rohleder looked ahead for Keene, who tacked on the final goal of the first half.
Down 7-0 at the intermission, the Fillies could never find their footing. Rohleder scored goals two and three of her day in the 48th and 50th minutes, both on breakaway opportunities. The scoring drought lasted until the 64th frame, when Boles found herself open for a score a few seconds before
Angelina Munoz did the same with Thomas' 11th goal of the day - a new season-high. Boles ended her trifecta in the 71st minurte when Rohleder dished out her team-high fifth assist of the evening.Â
Munoz collected her brace in the 73rd minute on another speedy run in front of the Fillies' back line. Six minutes later,
Elizabeth Morgan threaded it through to Fox-Barker. The English sophomore had stepped up from the defense to the midfield as one of Rapuano's moves, and she delivered her first goal of the year.Â
Searching for more with ten minutes to go, Casner took over with a surging sprint and beat the keeper to notch a brace before finding a pass from
Allie Thomas three minutes later for the third Night Hawk to log the hat trick on the day.Â
Kaliah Greene added the final exclamation mark in the closing minutes, as the Night Hawks poured in their highest offensive night since beating the Fillies by the same score a season prior.
Rohleder's hat trick and five assists were both team-bests, while five other starters accrued at least both a goal and an assist.
Thomas returns to the TU Soccer Complex on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1:00 p.m. against Wesleyan in SSAC play. The Night Hawks will be honoring their seniors with a pregame ceremony scheduled for 12:15 p.m.Â
