Elder Night Hawks Lead Scoring Barrage Over Wesleyan On Senior Day

THOMASVILLE, Ga. - The Thomas University Night Hawk women's soccer program honored four seniors and scored five goals on Saturday afternoon against the Wesleyan (Ga.) College Wolves at the TU Soccer Complex in a 5-1 match.

Sergio Rapuano's program honored Alicia MacLeod, Pearl Mortimer, Jordyn Keene and Miasandra Mauro with a pregame ceremony, before the Night Hawks' keyed in on the quartet all game long. Offensively, Jordyn Keene opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a shot after Mauro gave it an initial boot toward the area.

Thomas never let up pressure, ultimately out-shooting Wesleyan by a total mark of 33-2, with 14 of them being on goal from the Night Hawks. Chantelle Thomson (8-4-2) tallied a lone save on the match on a pair of shots on goal.

Mauro found the ball back in her possession in the 39th minute, streaking down the left wing and finding Mortimer for a close tap-in, and a 2-0 Night Hawks lead. Not four minutes later, Jule Rohleder lined up for a corner kick and sent it deep to Mortimer, who headed in another score.

Up 3-0 at the half, the Night Hawks allowed an early second-half score to Wesleyan before finding the final two goals in the last six minutes of action.

The Rohleder-to-Mortimer connection struck again in the 85th minute, with another corner kick to the head of the senior to complete the hat trick.

MacLeod entered the offensive action with time winding down. From just beyond midfield, she sent it down the pitch to an open Mauro who sliced it beyond the keeper for the fifth TU goal of the afternoon; bringing her season total to five.

Thomas (8-4-2, 6-3-1) ends the home slate of games with its fifth-straight win. Mortimer, who has scored six of her ten goals in the last three games, has pushed her senior season into double-double territory with her now-ten goals and eleven assists.

The Night Hawks head to West Point on Thursday, Oct. 22, to take on the Point University Skyhawks at 4:30 p.m. at River Bowl Stadium, trying to extend their winning streak over PU to ten straight games dating back to 2017.
