Liburd Named Sun Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Year

Senior Forward Rowan Liburd - TSC Player of the Year

Thomas University senior forward Rowan Liburd was named the 2013 Sun Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Year this evening at the Men's Soccer Conference Tournament Banquet in Daytona Beach, FL.

The senior from Croydon, England was also selected as the Offensive Player of the Year and was named to the All-Conference First Team. He becomes the first Night Hawk Student Athlete in school history to be named Player of the Year at the conference level. Liburd is a three time All Conference First Team selection after receiving the honor last year and in 2012 when TU were members of the A.I.I. Conference. He has recorded a team leading 14 goals (10 in TSC action) and has notched six assists for the Night Hawks while also leading the team in total points (34). Liburd ranks first in the TSC in Game Winning Goals (5) and is second in both Points and Goals. His five game winning goals is 12th overall in the NAIA. Liburd is currently 2nd all-time in TU men's soccer history with 42 career goals and is also second with 97 career points.

Thomas will face Southeastern University tomorrow at 12:30PM in TSC Semi Final #1. A win would advance Thomas to their first ever appearance in the TSC Tournament Championship Game where they would face the winner of #1 ERU and #4 SCAD-Savannah.
