THOMASVILLE, Ga. — Daniel Mauldin scored twice in just as many minutes to lead Thomas University past Point University 3-1 on Thursday afternoon in Southern States Athletic Conference men's soccer action.
The Night Hawks (5-4-4, 2-3-3 SSAC) opened the scoring in the 31st minute when Diego Saenz finished a pass from Camilo Penafiel for his second goal of the season. Point (5-6-2, 1-5 SSAC) equalized early in the second half, as Moritz Dalpiaz netted his sixth goal of the year in the 53rd minute.
Mauldin broke the deadlock in the 70th minute and added another just under two minutes later, from an Edward Sack pass. The brace brought Mauldin's season total to four goals.
Thomas outshot Point 16-10, with both teams registering five shots on goal. Goalkeeper Kameron Kirksey made four saves for the Night Hawks, while Luka Rodin recorded two stops for the Skyhawks.
The Night Hawks return to action on Saturday at 3:30 PM to face Faulkner University in a key conference match up for senior day. The senior day ceremony will take place immediately following the game.
