MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – The Thomas Night Hawks earn their first SSAC win of the season against Brewton-Parker on Saturday afternoon.
Thomas quickly got to work in the first half as they found an early scoring opportunity with a corner in the seventh minute.
Diego Saenz took the corner and
Aaron Sindhar headed it over to
Ethan Moore, who finished it off with a goal to go up 1-0.
The Night Hawks saw two more opportunities as
Will Nye and Saenz both had shots on target in the 24th and 25th minute. However, both shots were saved by the Baron keeper.
Brewton-Parker strung together a few chances to score before the half, their best being a free kick just outside the box that went wide.
As the half came to a close, Thomas held on to their 1-0 lead.
The Barons saw their best opportunity to equalize in the 52nd minute, as a another free kick from outside the box was sent away by Night Hawks keeper
Damien Fortin.
Thomas countinued the attack looking for that insurance goal. Moore almost had a header go in, but it was stopped by the keeper.
Brewton-Parker saw one more opportunity to equallize in the 85th and 88th minute. However, Fortin made the save on both attempts to seal the victory.
The Night Hawks out shot the Barons 13-8. Fortin made three saves on his way to second clean sheet in a row and his third this season.
Thomas will return home for a match against Mobile on Thursday, October 2nd at 4:30PM.
