BLUE MOUNTAIN, MS – The Thomas Night Hawks finished off their two game road trip with a draw against the Blue Mountain Christian Toppers on Saturday afternoon.
Night Hawks saw opportunities early as
Ethan Moore's header went wide at the two minute mark. On the other side, the Toppers also tried to capitalize on a couple of changes as back-to-back shots were blocked and deflected of the crossbar respectively.
In the 30th minute, Moore had another golden opportunity to break the tie, but the Blue Mountain keeper made an impressive save.
Going into the locker room, the match remained at level.
In the second half, the Night Hawks continued to battle, as
Luke Guerrier's shot in the 62nd minute was on target but saved by the keeper. Then in the 67th minute,
Camilo Penafiel recieved an excellent pass from Guerrier and converted a specatular goal. However the referee called Penafiel offsides, negating the go-ahead score.
With new life, the Toppers went on the attack, but clutch saves by
Damien Fortin in the 80th and 81st minute preserved the draw as the clock struck 90.
Thomas had nine shots in the match with six on target, while Blue Mountain shot the ball 13 times with only four on goal.
The Night Hawks will be on the road again for their next contest as they take on Brewton-Parker Christian on Saturday, September 27th at 4:00p.m.
