THOMASVILLE, Ga. — Cameron Tyson's eighth-inning home run gave Thomas a late spark, but the Night Hawks couldn't complete the comeback, falling to Middle Georgia State on Tuesday night at Varnedoe Stadium.
Thomas struggled offensively, managing just one hit in the game—Tyson's solo shot that cut the deficit to one. Despite the quiet bats, the Night Hawks' pitching kept them in the game. Starter Dustin Letchworth turned in a strong four-inning outing, holding the Knights to one run, while the bullpen of Ryan Chapman, Ashton O'Quinn and Brandon Steele limited damage, surrendering one run on eight hits.
Middle Georgia State struck first with a run in the second inning and added another in the eighth. The Knights' pitching staff held Thomas in check, allowing just three baserunners all night.
Thomas had one last chance in the ninth but couldn't bring the tying run home. The Night Hawks will look to rebound in their next matchup as they go on the road for a conference series against Blue Mountain on Friday, March 14th at 4:00 PM EST / 3:00 PM CST.
