THOMASVILLE, Ga.— The Thomas Night Hawks dropped a conference matchup against #18 Faulkner Eagles on Friday night at Varnadoe Stadium.
Despite collecting 10 hits, Thomas struggled to capitalize with runners in scoring position, stranding 12 men on base. Faulkner took control early, scoring in five different innings while holding the Night Hawks to just four runs.
Thomas' offense was led by center fielder
Elias Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
JT Whatley and
Brayden Lawhon each contributed with RBI hits, while shortstop
Seth Waltimyer added a double.
On the mound, starter
Chase Marsh battled through five innings, allowing five earned runs on four hits while issuing five walks. The bullpen combined for four innings of work, surrendering four additional runs.
Faulkner took advantage of timely hitting and patience at the plate, drawing nine walks and scoring three insurance runs in the eighth to put the game out of reach.
Thomas will look to bounce back Saturday when they conclude their series against Faulkner in a doubleheader at Varnadoe Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
