THOMASVILLE, Ga. — The Thomas Night Hawks put on a dominant display Saturday afternoon, defeating the Life University Running Eagles 47-6 at the TU Soccer Complex.
Quarterback
Alexa Wilson led the Night Hawks' explosive passing attack, completing 14 of 17 passes for 161 yards and four touchdowns.
Keelin Coleman and
Holly Neher also contributed under center, with Coleman tossing a touchdown pass and Neher connecting on a 30-yard score.
Thomas set the tone early, jumping out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter before erupting for 26 points in the second. Wide receiver
Kiana Acol hauled in two touchdown passes while
Maddie Hougland added two scores of her own on 39 receiving yards. Florida Gateway transfer
Destiny Lockett showcased her versatility, scoring both on the ground and through the air, while Kendall D'Aprille chipped in with a touchdown reception.
The Night Hawks' defense was relentless, forcing two interceptions and recording three sacks.
Kaitlyn Herb led the defensive front with three sacks, while
Destiny Lockett added an interception return for 18 yards.
Life University's lone score came in the second quarter on a four-yard touchdown pass from Cheyenne Brooks to Altierra Gooch. Brooks finished with 125 passing yards but was under constant pressure from the Thomas defense.
With the win, Thomas starts the season 1-0 and will look to build on this momentum in their next game as they go on the road to take on NCAA DI Alabama State on Friday, February 21st at 6:00 PM
