Thomas Shuts Out 2nd Opponent During Nationals

Night Hawks defeat Bobcats 19-0 to advance to semi-finals.

In a rematch of the Sun Conference Championship Game, held almost three weeks ago on the campus of Thomas University, the Thomas Night Hawks shutout the St. Thomas Bobcats, 19-0.  The game, this time, was held in Marietta, GA at the Franklin Gateway Sports Complex and the states were setting was the NAIA National Championship Tournament, sponsored by NFL Flag and the Atlanta Falcons.

Thomas used five interceptions to control the Bobcats.  The Night Hawks also held the Bobcats to minus six yards rushing.  The Thomas quarterbacks completed over 72% of their passes.

The victory sets up a rematch of the 2022 Championship Game between Thomas and Ottawa, who defeated Keiser, 21-12, during the same timeframe that Thomas played today.  Tomorrow's semifinal game will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium at 10:30 AM.  The winner of tomorrow's game will play for the title at 2:30 PM on Saturday, with the knowledge that they will have two opportunities to gain one victory.  The loser will have to play at 9 AM and win, in order to play for the championship, knowing that they cannot lose another game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Thomas scored on their opening possession of the game, driving 43-yards in six plays.  Alexa Wilson hit Nakerra Brown for a 19-yards touchdown pass to cap off the drive (conversion good).  TU 7 STU 0.

Both teams' defense would hold tight, until midway through the 2nd quarter, when the Night Hawks would score in only three plays.  Kiana Acol would hit Kiera Knight in the front corner of the endzone with a 10-yard pass for the score (conversion failed).  TU 13 STU 0.

After a scoreless 3rd quarter, a Brown 22-yard pick-six would be the final points for the Night Hawks (conversion failed).  TU 19 STU 0.  The Thomas defense would go on to shut out their second consecutive opponent in the championship tournament.
