Box Score THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University women's flag football team defeated St. Thomas University, 26-18, Saturday afternoon in the season opener at the TU Soccer Complex.

After a scoreless first quarter, Thomas took the halftime lead, 19-6. The Night Hawks added seven in the third period, then STU charged back with a pair of TDs in the fourth quarter.

Alexa Wilson went 29-for-43 on the day with 209 yards through the air and two touchdowns. She also gained 18 yards on the ground in five rushes.

Kiana Acol picked up 47 receiving yards from eight catches and
Gisele Jones collected 44 yards from four catches.
Kiera Knight scored a touchdown and had 40 yards from four catches while
Aliyah Wood scored a touchdown and made four catches for 34 yards.

Alexa Wilson rushed for 18 yards on five runs and Acol gained 14 rushing yards from eight attempts. Â

Defensively,
Janae Scott led the Night Hawks with seven flag pulls. Woods snagged two interceptions for three total yards and Jones had one INT for four yards.

St. Thomas scored first in the game, after an interception by the Bobcats started the drive on their own 39-yard line. A 34-yard pass play and a 5-yard reception led to STU taking a 6-0 lead.

Two drives later, Thomas marched down the field to score its first touchdown of the season. Wilson completed a 19-yard pass to Jones to pick up the first down, then Wilson found Knight for eight yards through the air. Another 21-yard reception by Knight put TU in the red zone, then Wilson hit Knight for a 4-yard touchdown reception to tie the game at six.

Acol scored Thomas' second TD on a 1-yard rush with two minutes left in the half.

After a defensive stand on STU's next drive, Acol scored another 1-yard rushing touchdown and a 1-yard PAT rush to give Thomas a 19-6 halftime edge.

After the half, the Night Hawks used a 13-play, 61-yard drive over seven minutes to go ahead, 26-6. Wilson hit Woods on a 15-yard pass play for the touchdown.

STU took 10 plays to go 40 yards and score its second TD of the game, then two drives later, went 55 yards in seven plays to end the game, 26-18.

The Night Hawks are in action again next Saturday, Feb. 25 in West Palm Beach, Fla., facing Keiser University at 1 p.m.
