Night Hawks Prepare to Face Crusaders

Thomasville, GA | Championship soccer for the Southern States Athletic Conference is set to continue in Montgomery, AL on Wednesday afternoon.The Night Hawks (11-6-1, 6-3-1 SSAC) will face #1 William Carey University (18-0, 10-0 SSAC) in the SSAC Championship semi-final round.  The Crusaders enter the contest as, not only the top seed in the conference, but area also the #1 ranked team in NAIA.
 
Thomas enters the contest following a 2-1 win over Dalton State College in the opening round of the SSAC Championship. Thomas' two goals in the match were produced by Pearl Mortimer and Kaitlyn Herb. The Night Hawks' Emily Lamoreaux recorded four saves. 
 
William Carey has remained perfect on the season thus far (18-0), and are currently riding an eighteen game win streak. In their most recent showing, the Crusaders knocked off Middle Georgia State University in the opening round of the SSAC Championships in a dramatic 12-0 fashion. In that game, six different Crusaders would record a goal. 
 
Going into this matchup, there are several key players to keep an eye on. Thomas is led by Kaitlyn Herb who has compiled 19 goals on the season (T-2nd SSAC), and 73 shots (4th SSAC). Sasha Manders has 12 goals on the season (10th SSAC), and 70 shots (5th SSAC). In the assist category, Ali Baca and Kaitlyn Herb have both recorded 10 (T-7th SSAC). The reigning SSAC Defensive Player of the Week, Emily Lamoreaux, has 41 total saves and a save percentage of 0.603 (8th SSAC).
 
The  #1 Crusaders are led by Christina Salmon who has recorded 19 goals this season (T- 2nd SSAC), and Mariangela Jiminez with 18 goals (4th SSAC) and 91 shots (1st SSAC). In the assist category, William Carey has three players ranked in the SSAC top 5 leader boards: Julia Herbst has 17 (1st), Maria Azarias has 16 (T- 2nd), and Zalma Torres has 14 (5th). Marlen Kelm boasts a 0.792 save percentage (2nd SSAC), 0.58 goals-against average (1st SSAC), and has only given up five goals (1st SSAC).
 
As a team, the Night Hawks are ranked 3rd in the SSAC in goals scored (71), with 61 assists. While William Carey is ranked 1st in the SSAC with 123 total goals scored and 104 assists. 
 
Thomas' post-season run will continue on Wednesday, November 8th. Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM in Montgomery, AL.
