Kansas City, MO | The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the 2023 Daktronics NAIA Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athletes on Thursday.
The Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete programs recognize excellence in the classroom by NAIA-member student-athletes who are sophomores or above in academic standing with a 3.5 cumulative GPA. Students must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer. The awards are given annually to outstanding student-athletes in the various sports in which the program is active and their respective teams are eligible for NAIA postseason competition. The 2023 list features 626 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution.
Thomas University placed two student-athletes on this prestigious list:
Sophia Alexander and
Jennifer Coleman.
Sophia Alexander (Hollis, ME, Bonny Eagle High School) is a junior, criminal justice major, who sports a 3.79 GPA.
Jennifer Coleman (Thomasville, GA, Thomas County Central High School) is a fifth year senior, film studies major, with minors in creative writing, communications, and psychology. Coleman carries a 3.65 GPA.
