MONTGOMERY, Ala – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced on Tuesday this year's postseason awards. Multiple Night Hawks earned second team all-conference honors, while three were named to the SSAC All-Freshman team.
Thomas had a very historic 2023 slate this past season as they made the transition into the Southern States Athletic Conference that went into effect July 1, 2023. The Green and White were selected to finish seventh within the conference in this year's SSAC preseason coaches' poll, but made it into postseason play against Mobile University in the Semifinal round.
Thomas did not have any problem making a statement throughout the conference and worldwide as they had a tough schedule that included a total of six ranked opponents, two of those concluding as draw matches against #11 Mobile (Sept 16th) and #16 Florida National (Sept 23rd).
Under the helm of Interim Head Coach Billy Jeffery, Thomas boasted one of their longest national streaks in program history as they were named Receiving Votes for nearly seven weeks with their latest ranking coming from this past week. Jeffery also led the Night Hawks to their 10th conference tournament appearance and one SSAC Defensive player of the Week honoree; Jorge Gonzalez.
The SSAC took notice very quickly of the game changing performances that several Night Hawks boasted throughout the season.
