MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The eighth-seeded Thomas University Night Hawk men's soccer program wrapped up its 2026 season with a first-round loss to the regular season champion Faulkner University Eagles in the SSAC Championship on Thursday night.
Thomas (8-11) responded to a 21st minute Eagle goal less than five minutes later when
Will Nye poked the ball through a line of defenders for
Daniel Mauldin. Mauldin strode past the rest and leveled the match at one apiece for his third goal of the season.
Faulkner's offense woke up down the stretch run of the first half, connecting with scores in the 31st, 33rd and 41st frames to send the Eagles to the halftime intermission with a 4-1 lead.
Mauldin and
Isaac Jordaan could only muster TU's three total first-half shots, compared to Faulkner's ten against
Kameron Kirksey (3-2).
Thomas was dealt a red card in the 57th minute moments before a fifth Faulkner goal on the night. The Eagles swelled the lead to five in the 73rd minute to make it a 6-1 match, while their second-half pressure limited TU to just an
Edward Sack shot in the 62nd minute that missed high off the crossbar.
Kirksey tallied four saves on the night in the season's finale.
The Night Hawks bow out of the 2026 SSAC Championship after
Billy Jeffery's program improved on a 5-7-4 mark a season ago.
