DOUGLAS, Ga. – The Thomas University men's swimming team competed Saturday in the South Georgia State College Home Sprint Meet.

In relays, the team of
Spencer Sheard,
Diego Alonso,
Ethan Kilgore and
Tim Brown won the 200-yard medley with a time of 1:39.27 and
Ty LaRue,
Brandon Hailey,
Chase Parman and
Akil Corbin combined to finish third at 1:47.77.

In the 1500-yard freestyle relay, Brown, Alonso and Kilgore won the event at 5:39.66, while Francisco José Visiedo Pereira, Hailey and Parman took third with a 5:43.19. Alonso, Sheard, LaRue and Kilgore teamed up to finish second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:35.05), trailed by a third-place finish from Pereira, Hailey, Parman and Corbin at 1:38.27.

Led by a second-place finish from Pereira (1:50.88), TU took home four of the top five places in the 200-yard freestyle. Pereira was chased by LaRue (1:55.37), Parman (1:58.31) and Brown (2:05.00).

Sheard won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.23, then placed second in the 50-yard backstroke at 25.79.

TU had three swimmers place in the 50-yard breaststroke, led by Alonso in second (28.15), Hailey taking fifth (30.21) and Pereira in sixth (30.23).

In the 100-yard butterfly, Kilgore touched the wall first at 54.58, followed by fourth-place Parman (58.45) and Hailey in fifth at 59.29.

Four Night Hawks competed in the 50-yard freestyle, led by Brown's second-place time of 22.99. Sheard took third (23.23), then LaRue (24.16) and Corbin (24.81) finished fifth and sixth, respectively.

Kilgore took top honors in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 51.86, then Corbin finished in 59.15 to take seventh.

Pereira and Alonso finished fourth and fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke, posting times of 1:02.87 and 1:03.07.

Parman won the 500-yard freestyle, swimming the event in 5:18.45.

Four Night Hawks swam the 50-yard butterfly, led by Kilgore's second-place finish (25.32). He was followed by Brown in third (25.42), Hailey seventh (26.93) and Corbin 11th (29.51).

In the 100-yard IM, Alonso placed third (56.38), Sheard fourth (56.56), Brown sixth (1:00.90) and Corbin eighth (1:11.81).

TU is back in the pool Jan. 28 when the Night Hawks compete in the Point Invite in West Point, Ga.
