Season bests for several Night Hawks at the Small College Championships

MARIETTA, Ga. – Thomas' Men's and Women's Swim teams found great success at the Small College Championships, hosted by Life University.
 
For the men, Emil Schildhauer had great performances in the 100- and 200-Yard Breaststroke, in the 100 yard he finished second with a season best mark of 55.65, in the 200, he set another season best with a time of 2:03.08, placing second. Finally in the 200-yard intermediate, Schildhauer finished first, setting another season best of 1:53.17.
 
Ethan Kilgore had a few seasons' best times in the meet for the Night Hawks, in the 100 Yard Fly he placed first with a time of 50.94 (season best) and in the 200 Yard Fly, Kilgore won with a time of 1:53.97.
 
Jofre Mataro competed well in the 50 Yard Free, as he finished fourth with a season best time of 21.46. He found his stride in the 200 Yard Back with a second-place finish marking another season best time of 1:50.42.
 
Mataro, Kilgore, Schildhauer and Francisco Visiedo Pereira earned Thomas' best finish in the Men's 800 Yard relay finishing second. Overall, the men finished third out of six teams.
 
On the women's side, Aspen Shipp put on a spectacular performance as she walked away with six individual first place finishes. In the 50 Yard Free she finished first with a time of 23.91, she won the prelims of the event as well. The 200-yard Back was the next event for Shipp as she placed first in both the prelims and the final. Her time in the final was a season best mark of 2:03.69. Her final individual event was the 100 Yard Fly, after once again winning the prelims, she won the finals with another season best time of 57.08.
 
Anna Van DeKeere, had an excellent week as well, she came away with three individual first place finishes as well. In the 200 Y Free, she won the prelim and in the final she finished first with a mark of 1:58.06, a season best for DeKeere. She also won the 1650 Yard free with a time of 18:14.05. Finally in the 200 Yard IM finals she placed third with a personal best time of 2:11.01.
 
Dagmar Kruik had several personal best times during the meet, hitting those marks in the 50 Yard Free, 100 Yard Free and leading off in the 200 Yard Free relay and 400 Yard Free relay. Her best individual finished came in the 100 Yard Breaststroke as she came in third with a time of 1:09.96.
 
The team of Kruik, Shipp, DeKeere and Alejandra Sopena Labadia dominated in relays, winning three out of the five relays, their most impressive performances coming in the 200 and 400 free relay, they finished with a time of 1:38.63 in the 200 relay which was a meet record and in the 400 their time was 3:36.44 which was another meet record.
 
Shipp was named the best individual swimmer for the women at the meet and the women finished fourth out of six teams.
 
The meet marked the final contest of the year for both teams as their next meet with be a dual meet against Life on January 18th.
