Women's Soccer Mobile Bound for a Pair of Contests

THOMASVILLE, Ga. — The Thomas University Women's soccer team is gearing up to travel to Mobile, Alabama to compete in the Mobile Classic.

The Night Hawks (0-1) will compete on Friday and Sunday this upcoming weekend, with the University of Mobile on Friday followed by Spring Hill College on Sunday. The Green & White will look to bounce back from a tough 4-3 season-opening RV Middle Georgia defeat last Saturday.

The Night Hawks were able to fire ten shots in the contest, and claim a 3-2 lead in the second half, but it wasn't enough with two back-to-back goals in the 69th and 71st minute turning all the momentum back to the Knights en route to the 4-3 victory.

Despite the loss, Thomas' Analeice Wilkes and freshman Sasha Manders shined in the opener, with the two combing for three goals and two assists. Thomas' back line fought the talented Knights attack, but MGA's eight corners and a free-kick-created goal proved to be too much in the 4-3 loss.

Looking ahead into Friday's contest, the Rams are also searching for their first win of the 2022 season after losing to Spring Hill last Friday, August 19th, in a friendly (exhibition) 1-0 defeat.

All time, the Rams hold a 6-2-1 advantage over the Night Hawks with Friday's match set to be the two teams tenth meeting. Most recently, TU bested UM last season 3-1.

Sunday will provide TU another tough opponent with Spring Hill College hosting the Night Hawks in what should be an entertaining early season non-conference matchup.  The Badgers (2-0) will be coming fresh off a Friday afternoon contest against DII Albany State, with two wins and nine unanswered goals already registered to SHC prior to this Friday afternoon's kickoff.

Thomas' game against the University of Mobile is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST with Sunday's match against Spring Hill scheduled for 2 p.m. EST.
