Battle of the ‘Hawks: TU Keeping Eyes on the Prize vs. Seahawks

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University flag football team heads to West Palm Beach, Fla. Thursday as the Night Hawks will have its second meeting of the season against the Keiser Seahawks in SUN Conference action.

After a bye week, TU (9-1, 5-1 SUN) will have a prime opportunity to gain a significant advantage in the race for the SUN Conference title, thanks to a 19-13 win over Keiser (6-1, 5-1 SUN) in the season opener.  A win over the Seahawks would give the Green & White the head-to-head tiebreaker over the reigning SUN regular season and tournament champions, in addition to a one-game difference in the standings.

The Night Hawks come off another low-scoring affair, a 13-0 defeat over St. Thomas, marking the sixth, straight contest that TU has allowed no more than one score.  Junior Quarterback Shelby Hartley has been consistent, combining for 29-of-48 with 305 passing yards and five touchdowns between the two, previous contests.  Graduate Brittney Delva has also made an impact offensively with 13 receptions for 154 yards and four touchdowns in the same span.

Defensively, Thomas has averaged 26.5 flags in the past two weeks, Freshman Rusher Jaida Reese holds six sacks in that span.

Since the team's season-opening loss to TU, the Seahawks have been red-hot overall.  KU's defensive has been solid, not allowing a single point since February 26th.  On offense, Sophomores Jazmin Rhoden and Kennedy Foster continue to be the primary playmakers for Keiser.  In a recent 19-0 win over Florida Memorial, both touchdown passes by Rhoden were to Foster on a day where the Tampa, Fla. native went 12-of-18 and threw for 150 yards.  The reigning SUN Player of the Week tallied nine receptions for a total of 85 receiving yards.

Kickoff at Keiser Multi-Purpose Field is set for 1 p.m.  Danny Solomon from ESPN West Palm Beach 106.3 FM will have the call.  Fans wishing to follow the live action can access the links below:
