THOMASVILLE, Ga. — The Thomas University women's soccer team is set to hot SCAD-Savannah on Thursday for the team's SUN opener.
Thomas (5-2-1. 0-0 SUN) had its SUN Conference opener against #9 Southeastern University get postponed last Saturday as Hurricane Ian postponed every Night Hawk event scheduled last weekend. On Thursday the Night Hawks are set host its toughest opponent this season as the Bees recently got moved to 11th in the NAIA's most recent Coaches Poll.
In TU's last contest the Night Hawks impressively downed #24 Georgia Gwinnett College 2-0. Two goals in the first half were enough as the ladies controlled the contest downing the Grizzlies for the first time since the 2020-21 Spring season.
SCAD visits the Rose City at 8-1 on the season, also yet to compete in SUN Conference action.
Much like the Night Hawks, the Bees are set to jump back on the pitch after a short hiatus, with their last matchup was also getting postponed due to the hurricane.
September 22nd was the last time the Bees took the field, competing against Brewton-Parker. In that matchup, SCAD scored twice in each half to easily best the Barons 4-1.
Sophomore Sydney Chura leads the charge for SCAD averaging just over a goal a game this season.
Historically, the two teams are neck and neck with seven wins apiece after SCAD won last year's matchup 4-0.
Thursday's afternoon matchup will be the two team's first meeting in Thomasville since 2018. All-time, the Night Hawks hold an edge at home with a record of 4-3, including the 1-0 2018 win.
