THOMASVILLE, Ga. — The Thomas University men's soccer team is gearing back up for SUN Conference play after last week's contests were postponed due to Hurricane Ian.
The Night Hawks (3-4-1, 0-1 SUN) host the Warriors from Webber International after being removed from play for ten days.
After a hot three game win streak through the SSAC (Southern States Athletic Conference), TU has now lost three straight. The team's most recent contest against #4 St. Thomas saw the Night Hawks fail to generate enough chances, as the Bobcats controlled the majority of the game. In the end, the Night Hawks fell in the SUN Conference opener 3-0.
Webber (6-0, 1-0 SUN) similarly visits the Rose City ten days removed from action, with the team's most recent win being a narrow escape from SCAD-Savannah 2-1.
Despite the impressive record, the Warriors have yet to play a ranked opponent, and have yet to receive votes in the NAIA's Top 25 Poll. Most recently, Hurricane Ian caused the team's last two games (Sep. 28th and Oct. 1st) to get postponed.
The Night Hawks dominate the historical matchup 8-1 after TU's first-ever loss to the Warriors last year. The disappointing 2-1 overtime loss was a heartbreak for TU, as the Night Hawks earned an early 1-0 lead in the 11th minute before ultimately losing to a free kick just seconds into OT.
TU's chance for redemption at the TU Soccer Complex is set for 10 AM Wednesday.
