Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla- The Thomas University Women's Soccer team had a scoring spree against Florida Memorial University on Thursday evening.
The Night Hawks (8-3-3, 3-1-2) settled on the pitch very quickly as the Green and White notched their first goal of the game in 10th minute by Senior Jana Pastorek that was assisted by Senior Kayley Smith. Florida Memorial (0-10-0, 0-8-0) could not stop the Night Hawks on offense as Senior Analeice Wilkes secured the next goal for Thomas in the 14th minute. The Lions saw a break from the scoring spree as a shot by Wilkes was saved by the Blue and Orange keeper, Hailey Illijin. Despite the defensive effort from FMU, TU answered immediately after with a goal from Freshman Sophia Papas in the 16th minute.
TU continued to control the pace of the game for the entire first half as Senior Delaney Hanneken secured another goal for TU that was assisted by Senior Brittney Rankins in the 37th minute. The momentum continued to build for Thomas as Junior Jade Slaybaugh joined the fun in the 42nd minute with a goal that was assisted by Junior Raelin Lescher
Entering the second half, the momentum started to shift. FMU began to see a light at the end of the tunnel with a goal from Jamya Foster to put the Lions on the board. Senior Abbie McCammon sealed the last goal for Thomas with an assist from Junior Hannah Kenne to seal the win for the Green and White.
FMU concluded the day with a total of four shots and three on goal. The Lions also had two corner kicks and thirteen saves. Thomas finished the match with thirty-seven shots with nineteen on goal. The Night Hawks also had two saves with eight corner kicks.
WHAT'S NEXT: TU will have just a day to prepare for their matchup against RV St.Thomas. Kick off is set for 11am in Miami Gardens, Fla.
