THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Women's soccer team is back on the road this weekend, travelling to Rome, Ga. Friday to play Shorter University before commuting to West Point, Ga. to face Point University Sunday in a pair of non-conference matches.
 
The Night Hawks' (0-1) home opener may be the lone game counted thus far, but TU's last outing took place in a stormy setting in Tennessee, as the contest against #20 Cumberland was voided after a lightning delay in the 54th minute proved too much to continue the match.  Before the impending weather, Thomas struck first in the 16th minute as Junior Brianna Fanning connected with Senior Matti Campbell for a top-shelf goal.
 
Shorter has struggled to start the season, falling 8-0 to SCAD-Savannah a few weeks earlier.  In that contest, the Bees outshot the Hawks 24-2, as Juliana Torres and Erin Carter recorded the team's shots.
 
Friday's match will mark the second time the teams will meet in the overall series between Thomas and Shorter.  The Night Hawks defeated the Hawks 6-2 in 2019.
 
Similar to Shorter, Point (0-2) has also struggled to start the Fall 2021 campaign, recently falling to RV Middle Georgia 4-0 Wednesday in Cochran, Ga.  The Skyhawks look to upstart its attack Sunday, as the team has yet to score a goal this season.  Senior Forwards Kelly Carlisle and Keiry Bonilla have returned for PU, recording two and one shots respectively in the early season.
 
In the latest match between Point and Thomas, the Green & White defeated the Skyhawks 2-0 in a rare, night game at Remington Park this past spring, outshooting PU 16-2.  Sunday will be the fifth-ever meeting between the Night Hawks and Skyhawks, as Thomas has won all four previous contests.
