THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Women's soccer team will look to build on its consecutive wins streak Saturday as the team hosts RV Middle Georgia State Saturday in non-conference play.
After a rocky start to the Fall 2021 season, TU (2-1) rebounded last weekend, notching a pair of wins over NCAA DII Shorter and Point. Between both games, the Night Hawks accumulated 15 points (five goals and five assists), with Junior
Jana Pastorek leading the way. The German's three goals-two assists performance earned her accolades not only from the SUN Conference but also from the NAIA, earning national Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Thomas heads into Saturday's match averaging just under 11 shots a game and an average of nearly seven shots on goal.
The contest against Middle Georgia (3-2) will provide a prime opportunity for the Night Hawks to avenge a gut-wrenching 3-2 overtime loss in the spring. Knights Striker Miagh Downey posted two goals in that match, including the golden goal. Today, the senior, along with other fellow senior Hannah Theriault, account for four of the team's seven goals.
As the Green & White's opponents average 12 shots a game, the Knights will hardly provide a change of pace, averaging 15 shots on goal in the Fall 2021 season. MGA has also found ways to maximize its set piece chances, tallying 28 corners on the season, a Top 30 mark in NAIA.
Saturday will mark the fourth overall meeting between the Night Hawks and the Knights since their series began back in 2017, with a series record of 1-1-1.
