WSOC Set to Begin SSAC Slate With a Pair of Home Games

Angelo Pontello | Sports Information Director | @apontello44

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Women's soccer team will look for its first victory of the Spring 2021 season this weekend, hosting Georgia Gwinnett Thursday and Dalton State Saturday at the TU Soccer Complex.

The Night Hawks (0-1) began its season with the top-ranked team in the nation in Keiser.  Despite a 3-1 setback, Sophomore Ayla Aiduck remains the only player to score against the #1 Seahawks in the team's spring portion heading into Thursday.  The goal is also Aiduck's only shot taken this season, let alone on goal.

TU, despite its limited shots attempts, boasts a 60% Shots on Goal percentage.

Freshman Keeper Emily Lamoreaux will look to build off a seven saves-performance last time out after facing 26 shots.

Georgia Gwinnett (0-2) began its Spring 2021 being outscored 8-2, but the Grizzlies are also hungry for its first win.  Like the Night Hawks this season, the Grizzlies are also an A.I.I. affiliate allowed to compete in the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC).  Georgia Gwinnett as a team averages 8.4 shots a game and just under five shots on goal.  Kyara Armenta and Clara Lidquist have registered GGC's only goals this season, as the team has also registered three assists. Grizzlies Goalkeeper Matilda Waldt (0-2) enters Thursday's contest with four goals allowed average and a 46.7% save percentage.

Dalton State (3-3) will play its SSAC opener at Florida College Thursday before travelling to Thomasville, Ga. to take on the Night Hawks.  The Lady Roadrunners also begin its Spring portion of their 2020-21 season this weekend, but the team played six matches in the fall.  DS, like GGC, averages single-digit shots per game (9.7).  Emily Darnell leads the team in Goals with seven on the season, and has taken 16 total shots on the season, with 15 of those on goal.  Lady Roadrunner Goalie Brooke Alvarez (2-2) averages 3.33 goals allowed with a save percentage just over 67%.

Kickoff against Georgia Gwinnett is scheduled for 11AM, while Saturday's kickoff time against Dalton State is slated for 2 p.m.  Due to inclement weather Thursday, Live Video will not be available.  Links to access each match can be found below:
