TU in Search of Strong Finish vs. Royals, Warriors

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Women's soccer team will conclude its season this weekend, as the Night Hawks prepare to host Warner University on Thursday before finishing with Webber International Saturday for Senior Day for its final SUN Conference matches.

The 2021 season has been a tough pill to swallow for the Night Hawks (6-9, 1-6 SUN), as losses to USCB and RV SCAD-Savannah last weekend officially eliminated the Green & White from contention for a spot in the conference tournament for the first time as SUN members.  Nevertheless, the Night Hawks remain positive as the team can close out its campaign on a high note with two, potential wins.

TU vs. WU (10/28)
Pride will be on the line Thursday afternoon, as TU will look to extend its win streak over Warner (3-5-2, 1-5-1 SUN).  The Royals have been eerily similar to the Night Hawks this season, averaging one and a half goals a game while posting 12 shots a contest.  WU also averages the same amount of goals allowed as the Green & White (2.3).  Not only are both teams look to snap their three-game winless streaks, but both teams are in search of their first scores since October 14th.  After drawing with USCB earlier this season, Warner followed the contest up with a pair of setbacks to #2 Keiser and RV Ave Maria with respective score lines of 4-0 and 1-0.

The Royals are led by Kalena Iwashita and Blessing Zim, who both own four goals apiece on the season.  Goalkeeper Cora Perez enters Thursday's contest averaging 1.81 goals allowed while posting a Save Percentage of .720.

TU vs. WIU (10/30)
If Webber International (10-3-1, 4-3 SUN) were to fall to #10 Southeastern and Ave Maria were to upset #24 St. Thomas Thursday, Saturday's match may give the Night Hawks a golden chance to spook the Warriors' hopes of returning to the SUN Conference tournament, all on Halloween Eve.  After starting the season 9-0-1, WIU has nearly collapsed down the stretch, losing three of its last four matches that most recently included a beat-down from #2 Keiser 6-1.

While the Warriors average 3.43 goals scored, the team has done it from a 13.7 Shots per Game average.  WIU boasts a number of scoring threats on its squad, including Brazil Clark (10 G, 1 A), Domenica Pena (7 G, 5 A), and Versailles Clark (7 G, 2 A).  In net, Natalie Bartek has allowed 1.76 goals a game and holds a .789 Save Percentage that includes three shutouts.

The Night Hawks hold a 9-3-2 overall series lead over Webber International, winning seven of the last nine contests.

Kickoff at TU Soccer Complex against Warner is set for 4 p.m., as the contest against the Warriors will feature a 1 p.m. fixture.
