MSOC Senior Day Preview

THOMASVILLE, GA — The Thomas University Men's soccer team will host their last regular season conference matchup on Saturday, October 23 when the Lions from Florida Memorial University come to the Rose City for a SUN Conference showdown.

The Night Hawks (4-8-1, SUN 0-5-1) have struggled as of late, dropping their last six contests heading into Saturday's home finale.

Despite the most recent 6-1 loss against #16 Georgia Gwinnett College on Wednesday, the team was able to hold their own in the second half scoring the first goal of the second period before allowing two goals later on in the half.

Though the scoreline was not, the box scores were close as Thomas registered 12 shots while GGC registered 17. In net, both keepers were impressive, as Freshman Stephen Douglas held the slight advantage in net picking up seven saves.

All in all, Georgia Gwinnett was a solid test where the Night Hawks had 18 players register quality minutes in preparation for the must-win scenario that Saturday's contest will present.

Florida Memorial enters the match after an impressive outing earlier in the week where the Lions convincingly handled the Bees from SCAD-Savannah 4-3.

The final scoreline was close, but the Lions led by three through most of the contest, before two goals in the 80th minute narrowed the gap. As time expired, FMU held the 4-3 lead and improved to 2-3-1 in Conference play, sitting in which is good enough for sixth place in the Conference.

On Saturday, the Night Hawks will honor eleven members postgame during the teams annual Senior Day ceremony. Alex Pugh, Andres Labrada, Cavan Daley, Curtis Thomas, Diego Azar, JP Vinha, John Lupica, Jamal Ibrahim, Nicola Monelli, Quadry Glass and Samir Lopez will be escorted onto the field by their family and closest friends, as each player will be presented an action photograph and a plaque in appreciation for their years of commitment and service to the University and the program.

Kickoff for the Men's Senior Day at TU Soccer Complex is scheduled for 11 a.m. Fans can follow along with the contest by accessing the links below.
