THOMASVILLE, GA — The Thomas University Men's soccer team is set to host its final non-conference contest this Wednesday, as the Night Hawks play host to #11 Georgia Gwinnett College.
The Night Hawks (4-7-1, 0-5-1 SUN) will look to rebound from a tough week last week, which saw Thomas fall to SCAD-Savannah on Wednesday before losing on the road to #4 Keiser University by respective score lines of 3-0 and 2-0.
After starting the season with 13 goals in six matches, the Night Hawks have found difficulty scoring as of late, scoring one goal in its last four outings. Defensively, TU has conceded two goals per contest allowing opponents to average over 14 shots a game.
Georgia Gwinnett (7-4-1) presents the Night Hawks a golden opportunity to pick up a win, as the Grizzlies enter the weekday contest on a two-game skid.
Despite the recent outcomes, the Grizzlies have maintained their Top 15 ranking thanks to strong defensive efforts that have limited opponents to just over a goal a game while offensively scoring more than two goals per contest.
The Grizzlies' firepower is led by Junior Karim Tmimi who has nine goals and five assists on the season, while Sophomore Mathew Wallace has been the defensive stronghold in net, picking up 40 saves on the season. Steve Decou is in his ninth season as head coach and has led the Grizzlies to seven NAIA national tournament appearances.
Kickoff at the TU Soccer Complex is scheduled for 2 PM. Fans can follow along with the contest by accessing the links below.
