Box Score WEST POINT, Ga. – The Thomas University women's soccer team defeated Point University, 3-0, Saturday evening in the Jenna Paige Bragg Memorial Classic. 

"We had a great team effort tonight," said Coach Julie Orlowski. "We were much more organized and communicated very well. Our leaders Jen Clyde and Dana Blough set the tone early and often."

After a lightning delay pushed kickoff back an hour, Thomas outshot Point 12-4, and 9-3 on goal, to earn the Night Hawks' first win of the season. 

With 32 seconds left in the first stanza, Lexie McDaniel scored her first collegiate goal off an assist from Analeice Wilkes and Jonna Wittwer. TU worked the ball down the left flank, then Wittwer served the ball into the box. Wilkes flicked the ball on with her head to McDaniel, who was standing alone at the far post. She settled the ball and ripped it past the goalkeeper to the far netting. 

"Everyone was very excited to see Lexie get a goal in her first collegiate game," said Orlowski. "Getting a goal that close to the half really energized our team, and I am sure it had the opposite effect on Point."

Jana Pastorek netted back-to-back goals in the second half, the first two goals of her collegiate career. Her first goal, at 27:22, was unassisted. She made a great individual effort to create a one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Point made a great save on the first attempt, but Pastorek was able to score the rebound. Her second goal was a shot from the top of the box, off a great feed from Wittwer.

Thomas' home opener is Aug. 28 against No. 8 Georgia Gwinnett. The match begins at 4 p.m. at the TU Soccer Complex in Thomasville, Ga.
