Thomas Women's Soccer Postgame Report - USC Beaufort
BLUFFTON, S.C. - Thomas fell to 6-1 all-time against USC Beaufort (S.C.) following Wednesday's 3-1 loss at Fin Land Field in The Sun Conference (TSC) action. The Night Hawks dropped to just 8-5-1 in their last 14 matches outside Thomasville.
For the fourth-straight game, Thomas (5-4-1, 2-2 TSC) went into halftime scoreless with an opponent.Â
"The game had a turnover-feel to it where neither team got into a rhythm," said Night Hawk coach
Julie Orlowski regarding the first 45 minutes. "They (USC Beaufort) had some great opportunities in the first half, and we were very fortunate to get into halftime 0-0."
Haley Pina (9) scored the first two goals for USC Beaufort (5-4, 2-2 TSC) in the 62nd and 82nd minutes, each with an assist by M.J. Orduna. Orduna (4) scored her team's final goal in the 87th minute with aid from Rileigh Olsen and Hanna Crist.
The Night Hawks'
Olivia Taylor (7) beat Sand Shark netminder Courtney Sherry top shelf on a free kick from 25 yards out with 49 seconds remaining for the final tally. Taylor, who has two goals and as many assists in her career against the Sand Sharks, has registered at least one point in six of the last eight matches.
Pina totaled three shots on goal.
Taylor recorded two shots on goal, while
Linnea Roivas,
Kaleigh Premo and
Taylor Hults each had one.
Sherry (5-3) made four saves in 90 minutes.
The Night Hawks'
Kara Houston (4-4-1) registered two stops in 90 minutes between the pipes.
Thomas outshot USC Beaufort, 11-8. Each team had five shots on goal.
The Night Hawks host No. 8 Keiser (Fla.) on Saturday. Kickoff from TU Soccer Complex is set for 11 a.m. ET.
