Thomas travels to Southeastern on Wednesday

THOMASVILLE, Ga. - Thomas hits the road for the final time in Sun Conference (TSC) regular-season play Wednesday when the Night Hawks travel to Southeastern (Fla.). Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET.

In addition to live stats, the match will be televised online through Stretch Internet.

ABOUT THOMAS

The Night Hawks are coming off a 1-1 tie following two overtimes at then-RV Johnson & Wales (Fla.) on Oct. 21 in conference play. The Night Hawks remained unbeaten (5-0-1) against the Wildcats.

Johnson & Wales took a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute following a Thomas turnover in its own third of the field, but a Malcom Frago Mayers to Leo Thompson connection tied the contest with 2:30 to play in regulation.

Thompson poured in a game-high seven shots. Thompson and Gavin Rochford-Smith each had three shots on goal.

Night Hawk goalkeeper Lee Howarth made five saves in 110 minutes.

Thomas outshot the home team, 15-14.

Each squad was whistled for two cautions.

ABOUT SOUTHEASTERN

The Fire are coming off a 5-3 win at Florida Memorial on Oct. 21 in conference action.

Within the first 25 minutes of the contest, Southeastern amassed three goals.  

Florida Memorial fought its way back into the match with a goal in the 34th minute. However, the Fire would answer right back with a tally in the 40th minute.

Florida Memorial netted goals in the 57th and 75th minutes to bring the match within one, but the Fire iced the game with a goal with 25 seconds to play for the final margin. 

Gustavo Rodrigues ranks 13th in the NAIA in assists per game (0.7). Tauan Salgado is 46th in game winning goals (3).

LAST TIME OUT AGAINST THE FIRE

Southeastern upset No. 4 Thomas, 2-0, on Oct. 15, 2016, ending the Night Hawks' 11-game win streak.

Salgado netted the game winning goal in the 61st minute with an assist from Luke Marchesani. Jonathan Jimenez added an insurance goal in the 81st minute off a pass from Salgado.

Howarth collected three saves in goal for the Night Hawks.

Each team played with 10 players for the final 20-plus minutes after two red cards were given.

SUDDEN DEATH

Following Saturday's tie at Johnson & Wales, coach Ricky Zambrano's group improved to 9-0-4 in its last 13 games that have gone into extra time.

THOMAS IN 22ND SEASON 

The 2017 campaign marks the 22nd in the history of Thomas men's soccer. 

The Night Hawks have reached the NAIA National Championship three times (2013, 2014, 2016) in the last four seasons and are coming off a second round appearance in 2016. Thomas is 1-2-1 all-time in the tournament.

Thomas has been a member of The Sun Conference since 2012 and is 36-12-5 in league play. The Night Hawks won The Sun Conference Tournament championship in 2013 and 2014 and the league's regular-season title in 2016.

ZAMBRANO AT THE HELM

In his 17th season as a collegiate head coach and 13th at the helm of Thomas, Zambrano is 175-117-22 overall, including 128-87-19 with the Night Hawks. He has the most wins as a coach in Thomas history.

ROAD WARRIORS

The Night Hawks have won 11 of their last 18 road matches.

NAIA STATISTICAL RANKINGS

Thompson ranks 22nd in the NAIA in shots per game (4.1).

DAUNTING SCHEDULE

Six of Thomas' original opponents rank in the latest NAIA top 25 – No. 8 Mobile (Ala.), No. 9 Georgia Gwinnett, No. 10 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), No. 12 Vanguard (Calif.), No. 15 Saint Thomas and No. 19 Dalton State (Ga.). One other - Bryan (Tenn.) - is receiving votes. The Night Hawks are 0-4 against the top 25 this season, having lost to then-No. 5 Georgia Gwinnett, then-No. 11 Bryan, then-No. 13 Mobile and then-No. 17 Saint Thomas (the home match against then-No. 23 Lindsey Wilson was suspended in the second half due to lightning with the game tied at two). Thomas is 1-4 against the current top 25, having defeated Vanguard but lost to Dalton State, Mobile, Saint Thomas and Georgia Gwinnett.

Three of those opponents - Bryan, Georgia Gwinnett, Saint Thomas - reached the NAIA National Championship last season.

Zambrano's group is represented by 16 countries on this year's roster - the United States, England, Sweden, Ireland, Wales, Brazil, Costa Rica, Germany, Italy, Canada, Spain, El Salvador, Zimbabwe, New Zealand, Bolivia and Australia.
