Cooks named to TSC Men’s Basketball All Conference Team

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Sun Conference announced the 2015-16 Men's Basketball honors Sunday evening at the Final Four Banquet hosted by Keiser University. Fourteen players representing all nine conference schools were named to the All-Conference roster.

Sophomore Javoris Cooks was the lone Night Hawk honored by the TSC, being named to the All-Conference Second Team. Cooks led the way for in scoring for TU, averaging 13.73 point per game. His 88 three pointers were also a team high and ranked him 16th in NAIA D2. The native of Cordele, Ga. also ranked 20th in the nation for three points made per game (2.93).

Warner's Warren Hall was selected as the Sun Conference Player of the Year. The 6-2, junior from Tampa, Fla., shot 50.1 percent (222-of-443) from the field on the season and led the conference in scoring, averaging 24.6 points per game. He also made 41.5 percent (51-of-123) of his attempts from behind the three point arc.

Senior Dewaine Lyals of Webber International University was named the Defensive Player of the Year. The 6-7 center ranked third in the NAIA in blocks per game (2.6) and fifth in total blocks (69). Lyals led the Warriors in both scoring, 15.1 ppg, and rebounds, 8.0 rpg, while also tallying 42 assists.

St. Thomas' Raheem Bowman earned Freshman of the Year accolades after nearly averaging a double-double this season. The Chester, Penn., native, averaged 11.4 points per game and grabbed 9.6 rebounds per contest. Bowman also recorded a team-best 48 blocks.

The Newcomer of the Year was Keiser's Stanley Whittaker. The junior transfer out of Philadelphia, Penn., averaged 14.6 points per game for the Seahawks while leading the team with 193 assists and 66 steals. Whittaker ranked second in the NAIA in assists per game (6.7) and third in total assists (193). His 2.3 steals per game and 66 steals ranked third and fifth in the NAIA, respectively.

Southeastern's Caleb Konieczny is the recipient of the Cazzie Russell Champions of Character Award. Konieczny, now a senior, was a part of a mission trip to Uganda before his junior year. He has also served as a counselor at FCA Camp, has volunteered with Kool 2 B Kind anti-bullying project at local elementary schools, and has worked NBC Basketball Camps.

Keiser's Rollie Massimino has been selected as the Coach of the Year. Massimino has led the seventh ranked Seahawks to a 27-3 overall record in 2016 and a 14-2 mark in Sun Conference action. Keiser finished the regular season as the conference's outright regular season champion and will host the final four of the conference tournament beginning Monday night.

Ten players from six different teams were also honored as Academic All-Conference performers in the classroom. To be eligible for the Academic All-Conference, a student-athlete must have completed one full academic year at the league institution and have a 3.5 or better grade point average.
