Box Score

Thomas University's Women's Soccer (5-4) (TSC 2-0) shutout conference foe Florida Memorial University (1-7-1) (TSC 0-3) in a 4-0 victory.

The Lady Night Hawks open up their 2014 conference campaign with two victories. They followed up their victory over St. Thomas with a shutout against the Florida Memorial Lions. The Lady Night Hawks were unstoppable on offense, netting a total of four goals. They weren't forgiving on defense, either, denying the Lions any goals. Junior Adrianna Johnson (1G) was the first Lady Night Hawk with a successful strike, followed by Freshman Bethany Chamberlain (1G) with her first goal of her collegiate career. Nearly 50 minutes into the game, Freshman Sarah DiLoreto (1G), committed the third score from an assist by Freshman Linnea Roivas (1A). Junior Mackenzie Dolan (1G) would seal the Lady Night Hawk's win with the fourth and final goal assisted by defender, Senior Emily Ingram (1A).

TU took advantage of ball control and successfully defended FMU. Junior Sara-Ann Hartley solidified the Lady Night Hawks team defensive efforts, shutting out the FMU Lions. Hartley saved seven strikes on goal during the match, assisting the Lady Night Hawks in the shutout over FMU.

Commenting on the team's results, TU Head Women's Soccer Coach, Julie Orlowski says, "Good team effort today and we moved the ball well. I'm pleased with the way we presented ourselves with the challenges involved with today after beating a rivalry team on Friday. Being able to come back and mentally put together a strong 90 minutes definitely made the difference today. Awesome effort from our team today from top to bottom, especially by our goal keeper, Sarah Hartley, stopping a penalty kick half way through the first half. It's great to go on the road in conference play and come home with 6 points and two wins. We are looking forward to the next two weekends."

Thomas University Women's Soccer will continue with their conference competition as they will be hosting the Southeastern Fire Thursday, October 2nd at the Thomas University Soccer Complex at 4:30 P.M.
