Box Score No. 2 Thomas University (6-0-2) (TSC 1-0) crushed Ave Maria University (1-3) (TSC 0-1) in their sun conference opener 4-0 in Ave Maria, FL.
The Night Hawks started the first half in a dominant fashion, scoring four goals in just forty-five minutes of play. Senior
Diego Hurtado (3G) collected the hat-trick, scoring three goals in the first half. Hurtado's first goal came from the assist of Freshman
Jonathon McGrath (1A), giving TU the 1-0 lead in just 26 minutes of play. Junior
Lyle Gifford (1A) would join the action as he set up Hurtado to drive home another goal, increasing the lead over AMU to 2-0. Hurtado netted a header on the cross by Junior
Andrew Berg (1A), scoring his third goal of the game and giving the Night Hawks the 3-nil lead. Junior
Patrick Ramdial (1G) added to mix as he fired a free kick into the top corner of the goal, stretching the lead to 4-0 over the Gyrenes.
The second half the match was a battle between the defenses. The Gyrenes would come out of the locker with a different strategy, holding the Night Hawk offense to a scoreless second half. TU wouldn't back down from the fight as they continued show control, consistently winning the ball. Sophomore
Alex Condell solidified the Night Hawk defense as he recorded three (3) saves on the game.

Thomas will return to the soccer pitch as they lock up with Southeastern in Lakeland, Fla. at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 27
