Box Score Thomas University's Women's Soccer (8-4) (TSC 5-0) team continues their excellence in The Sun Conference as they defeat University of South Carolina Beaufort (4-8) (TSC 0-4) 2-1.
Both TU and USCB remained flawless on the defensive side of the ball throughout the entire first half, keeping each other scoreless. Junior
Sara-Ann Hartley played a vital role defensively as she recorded 5 saves on the day.
The second half proved to be a match-up of offenses. The Lady Night Hawks took on the early lead as Senior
Jenny Hernandez (1G) drilled home a goal from the assist of Sophomore Dara Probst (1A), giving TU the 1-nil lead for the majority of the second half. The Sand Sharks would answer back with just 10 minutes remaining in regulation play, tying Thomas 1-1, threating the match to overtime. Junior
Mackenzie Dolan (1G) wouldn't settle for OT, netting a goal of her own from a corner kick that was delivered by Junior
Adrianna Johnson (1A) with just ten seconds left to play.
Head TU Women's Soccer Coach,
Julie Orlowski commented on the game, "I was pleased with how the ladies didn't give up. We let them back in late in the game but we were able to recover and fight back to take home the victory, with that they, they showed a lot of heart."
The Lady Night Hawks will be back in action during the TU Soccer Breast Cancer Awareness Games - Sponsored by Badger Sports on Sunday, October 12, at 3:30 P.M. against SCAD-Savanna.
