NAIA #22 Thomas women’s soccer, seeded #3 in TSC Tournament

The NAIA #22 Thomas University women's soccer team (10-5, 7-2) enters the 2013 Sun Conference Tournament as the #3 seed and will face the sixth seeded Webber International Lady Warriors (3-9-2, 3-5-1) at 2PM in the quarter final round on Thursday afternoon at the TU Soccer Complex.

TU is seeking a victory and a first ever trip to the Semi-Final round, after falling last year in the quarter final round. The Lady Night Hawks topped WIU 3-1 during regular season play. The teams have split victories over the last four seasons.

A pair of seniors; midfielder Carina Spengler (15 goals, 1 assist, 31 points) and forward Emma Hewett (11 goals, 6 assist, 28 points) have helped guide the Lady Night Hawks to a third straight double digit win season and a fourth straight post season appearance. Senior goalkeeper Deanna Rivet, senior defender Kasey Cooper and senior midfielder Hannah Claesson have anchored a TU defense that has recorded 5 shutouts and only allowed 11 goals in TSC play.

By winning on Thursday, TU will advance to the semi-final round on Saturday and face the winner of #2 St. Thomas University and #7 Johnson & Wales University. Saturday's game will take place at the highest remaining seed.
