Box Score NAIA #24 TU (12-2-2, 7-0-2) knocked off #11 Embry Riddle University (11-2, 9-1), 2-1, in a Sun Conference match this afternoon at the Thomas University Soccer Complex. Prior to kick-off, nine Night Hawk senior were honored for the impact that the senior class has made to the TU soccer program.
After a back and forth early going, junior midfielder
Diego Ramos gave Thomas the lead in the 29
th minute of the game after receiving a pass from senior forward
Rowan Liburd and striking a bullet from 20 yards out that beat the ERU keeper to his right. Riddle notched the game at one with a goal off of a corner kick in the 37
th minute. The teams would take a 1-1 tie into the half. TU came out in dominant form to start the second half but was unable to knock home early chances. In the 67
th minute, Liburd broke behind the Riddle back line, on a pass from freshman midfielder
Jake Slocombe, and beat the keeper to the far post with the eventual game winner. Thomas was unable to extend their lead and ERU took control of the game late but TU was able to close out the one goal win to secure the #2 overall seed and a quarter final home match in the upcoming TSC Tournament.

Danny Zevallos were honored at midfield for their accomplishments as a group and as individuals during their careers. The group has compiled 45 wins over the last fours and will conclude their careers as the first class in men's soccer history to make four post season appearances while recording a .670 winning % against NAIA Top 25 opponents. This group of players have also anchored the transition for TU into the Sun Conference amassing an impressive .789 Winning Percentage in conference play during the last two years.
The win over Riddle is the third this season against NAIA Top 25 opponents and extends the Night Hawk unbeaten streak to 12 games, notching 10 wins and 2 ties over the historic stretch. TU will wrap up their regular season on Wednesday when they welcome SCAD-Savannah for a 7PM kick-off. The game will be played under the lights at Remington Park.
