Peter Ireland enters his sixth season as Thomas University’s head men’s and women’s golf coach in 2017-18.
During his tenure his at Thomas, Ireland has led his teams to five tournament victories and five individual tournament champions.
In 2016-17, Ireland guided the women's team to a fifth-place finish and the men's team to an eighth-place finish in The Sun Conference Tournament. One Thomas men's golfer was named All-Conference, while one women's golfer was named to the Academic All-Conference Team.
In 2014, Ireland guided the men’s golf team to their first Sun Conference Championship and a 12th place finish at the 2014 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship. Ireland has coached seven NAIA All-Americans and was named the Sun Conference Men’s Coach of the Year in 2014.
While at Thomas, Ireland served as the Assistant Golf Professional at Glen Arven Country Club from July 2012 to August 2014. Prior to his time at Thomas, Ireland spent two years playing golf professionally on the National Pro Golf Tour. He played in 11 events averaging a 73.82 per round.
Ireland played men's golf for four seasons (2008-11) for the Arizona Wildcats. He competed in 28 collegiate/amateur events during this span, averaging a 75.15 per round. Under the tutelage of Arizona coach Rick Larose, Ireland posted a career-low 67 while finishing in the Top 25 of six tournaments.
Ireland earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication with a minor in general business from the University of Arizona in 2011.
A native of Pebble Beach, Calif., Ireland attended Stevenson School. Peter and his wife, Sarah, reside in Tallahassee, Fla.
