THOMASVILLE, Ga. - The Thomas University Night Hawks were handed a 5-0 defeat by Life University on Thursday, as the the Running Eagles used a fast start and offensive pressure to pull away at the TU Soccer Complex.
Life opened the scoring in the 10th minute, setting the tone for an offensive performance that kept the Night Hawks battling throughout the match. The Running Eagles continued to find opportunities in both halves, ending with five shots at the back of the net on the match.
Thomas struggled to generate the same rhythm, recording five shots compared to 13 for Life.
Life's goalkeeper made five saves for the clean sheet, while
Chantelle Thomson (1-3-1) was forced into action throughout the contest, making eight saves.
Jordyn Keene rocketed the first attempt in the 16th minute before
Mistie Fox-Barker put up a last-tick shot before the halftime intermission.
Makenna Casner was denied in the 70th minute, and
Pearl Mortimer and
Allie Thomas both took chances with time winding down, but the Running Eagles kept Thomas off the scoreboard.
The loss leaves Thomas with a 1-3-1 record, ready for a quick turnaround. The season continues at the TU Soccer Complex against Dalton State College at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Dalton State enters with a 4-1-3 record on the season, while Thomas owns the historical advantage over the Roadrunners, 3-1-1.Â
