SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Thomas University Night Hawks dropped a Sunday women's soccer road match at RV SCAD-Savannah, 5-1.
Miasandra Mauro scored her fourth goal of the young season in the seventh minute of the game before the Bees rallied to take the lead in the first half before adding insurance after the halftime intermission.
The Night Hawks got on the board first when
Mistie Fox-Barker, near the corner, crossed the ball in towards the box looking for a teammate to take the lead. Despite the Bees' defense taking possession away, muddy conditions deadened the attempted boot right to Mauro. The senior played it to the ground on the left side; the sixth of her collegiate career.
SCAD answered promptly, with goals in the 12th and 15th minutes to surge in front.
Pearl Mortimer sent a shot and a header towards the goal before the half, but neither could connect.
Mortimer and
Kaliah Greene both threatened in the 50th minute with shots on goal, but Mortimer's was wide and Greene's was blocked by the Bees. SCAD added onto the lead with a third goal five minutes later. Mortimer took two more shots, but the SCAD defense shored up down the stretch as she,

Emily Boles all let it fly. The Bees' fourth goal was on a penalty kick in the 69th minute, and the quintet concluded two ticks later.
The Night Hawks (1-1, 0-0 SSAC) continue the campaign with their home-opener on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 4 p.m. against the New College of Florida Mighty Banyans. Last year, Thomas scored three second-half goals to take the inaugural meeting, 3-1.
