THOMASVILLE, Ga. - TU Soccer Complex had a warm introduction on Monday afternoon as the Thomas University Night Hawks cruised to a 6-0 victory over the Webber International University Warriors. Ethan Moore's second-half hat trick took less than 17 minutes, while Damien Fortin (3-1) and the back line took care of business in the home-opener.
The Night Hawks wasted little time getting on the scoreboard with Will Nye finding the back of the net in the third minute, finishing off an assist from Edward Sack to give Thomas an early 1-0 advantage. The Night Hawks continued to pressure the Warriors throughout the opening half, as Jose Bonilla Ortiz doubled the lead for his first collegiate goal in the 36th minute after another assist from Sack.
Thomas carried the 2-0 advantage into halftime and continued its ways after the break.
Isaac Jordaan extended the Night Hawks' lead to 3-0 in the 66th minute, converting a chance assisted by Elia Casali. Just four minutes later, Moore found the back of the net for the first of his three goals, with Charlie Foss providing the assist.
Moore added his second goal of the afternoon from the penalty spot in the 76th minute, completing a hat trick with his third goal in the 87th minute on a ball that stayed low to the ground across the middle of the box. Foss assisted on both of Moore's non-penalty goals.
The Night Hawks' attack finished with 16 shots, including eight on goal, while holding Webber International to just five shots and two shots on goal. Thomas' clean sheet saw Fortin only have to register two saves in goal.
"To see the team play how they did, it was obviously very satisfying," said head coach Billy Jeffery. "We need to have depth in our bench; guys will always continue to learn new aspects, and we'll continue to work."
"It was a great performance from everyone," said Moore. "We really deserved that win, and it shows all the work we did in the preseason and leading up to this moment."
Thomas (3-1, 0-0 SSAC) returns to the TU Soccer Complex on Saturday against Florida National University. In five contests against the Conquistadors, the Night Hawks are 2-1-2, having most recently tied with a pair of goals in 2023.
