Night Hawks Battle Through Long Day, Stack 20 Hits in Doubleheader vs. Georgetown

THOMASVILLE, Ga. — The Thomas University baseball team fell in both games of Saturday's doubleheader to Georgetown College, dropping the opener 13–5 and the nine‑inning finale 9–4 at Varnedoe Stadium. The Night Hawks collected 22 hits across the two contests.

Game 1: Georgetown 13, Thomas 5
Thomas opened the scoring in the first inning when Jaylen Roque singled through the right side to score Lucas Dufresne for a 1–0 lead.

After Georgetown posted eight runs in the second, the Night Hawks responded in the bottom half on Noah Smith's two‑run home run to left field, his second of the season. Thomas added two more runs in the third as Seth Waltimyer doubled to left‑center and Brayden Lawhon followed with an RBI double. The final run came in the seventh when Roque doubled to center to plate pinch‑runner Teiresias Jones Jr.

Charlie Eidelman, Nate Burnsed, Michael Surane and Jathan Cox appeared in relief; Burnsed recorded two strikeouts in the fifth.

Game 2: Georgetown 9, Thomas 4
Thomas produced 15 hits in the nightcap, led by a 3‑for‑4 effort from Elias Garcia, who also added an RBI on a sacrifice fly in the eighth. Roque, Smith, Nate Slaughter and Jackson Thomas each recorded two hits.

Roque's RBI single through the right side gave Thomas a first‑inning run, and in the second inning Braeden Goolsby came around to score on a single by Lawhon. Garcia's sacrifice fly plated Jackson Thomas in the eighth, and Gabe Tafelski singled up the middle to score Roque in the ninth.

On the mound, Isaac Padilla worked the first 3.1 innings with three strikeouts. Christian Maige struck out two in relief, and Ashton O'Quinn, TJ Harley, Brandon Eby and Sawyer Smith also appeared. Harley picked off a runner in the seventh, and Smith allowed only one hit in the ninth.

Thomas returns to action next week at home against Trinity College of Jacksonville for a midweek seven inning doubleheader.
