THOMASVILLE, Ga.– Despite a resilient fourth-quarter push, The Thomas Night Hawks fell short against Keiser Seahawks, 33-15, in the Sun Conference Championship Saturday at the TU Soccer Complex.
The Night Hawks showed sparks on both sides of the ball, led by wide receiver Janae Scott's seven-catch, 39-yard performance that included a fourth-quarter touchdown. Quarterback Keelin Coleman completed 27 of 38 passes for 203 yards and a score but was intercepted three times under heavy pressure from Keiser's defense.
Thomas found momentum in the second quarter, capping a 66-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown run by Destiny Lockett to trim the Seahawks' lead to 13-7. However, a 78-yard pick-six by Keiser's Ashlea Klam just before halftime and another touchdown in the third widened the gap to 33-7.
Scott's touchdown reception from Coleman, followed by a successful two-point conversion, brought Thomas within 18 in the final period. The Night Hawks nearly added another score in the closing minutes but turned the ball over on downs at the Keiser 1-yard line.
Defensively, Scott anchored the unit with a game-high 11 tackles, while Maddie Hougland added an interception and 48 receiving yards. Kaitlyn Herb averaged 36 yards per punt and landed one inside the 20.
The Night Hawks return to action next week to take on Florida A&M on Saturday, April 26th at 12:00PM at the TU Soccer Complex
