Thomas' bats light up Point in a sweep on Senior Day

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – On a day where 15 seniors were honored for their leadership and contributions to Thomas University as the Night Hawks sweep the Point Skyhawks on Saturday afternoon at Varnedoe Stadium.

Thomas 11 Point 1
A 13-hit performance and a lights-out start from AJ Wydra lifted Thomas to an 11–1 run-rule win over Point in Saturday's series opener at Varnedoe Stadium.

The Night Hawks struck early and often, scoring in five of the six innings they batted. Cameron Tyson set the tone with two doubles and three runs scored, while Brayden Lawhon drove in four runs on a 2-for-3 day to lead a balanced offensive attack.

Wydra delivered a gem, scattering five hits and one run over 6.2 innings. The right-hander struck out seven and walked just three, holding the Skyhawks to 1-for-11 with runners on base, he was relieved by Wyatt Smith who closed the game by forcing a flyout to end the contest.

Thomas plated two runs in the first and three more in the second to take control early. After a quiet third and fourth, the Night Hawks erupted for four runs in the fifth and tacked on two more in the sixth to seal the mercy-rule victory.

Eight different players recorded hits, with Tyson, Lawhon, and Gabe Tafelski all notching multi-hit games. Hunter Kern and Elias Garcia each added RBI singles, and Thomas stole three bases as part of its aggressive baserunning strategy.

The win marked a crucial conference victory for Thomas and earned them the series win over Point.

Thomas 12 Point 2
Thomas  poured on the offense in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader, using a seven-run fourth inning to power past Point 12–2 in seven innings.

The Night Hawks recorded 13 hits and took advantage of six walks and a hit batter to complete the series sweep. Aiden Reyes led the charge with a 3-for-5 day, including a double and three RBIs. Lawhon added two hits and two RBIs, while Tyler Marczak and Cameron Rosario each drove in a pair.

Thomas broke a 1–0 game open in the fourth, sending 11 batters to the plate. The rally featured RBI hits from Rosario, Marczak, and Reyes, along with a pair of bases-loaded walks. Thomas added four more in the seventh to enforce the run-rule, highlighted by Lawhon's RBI double. To force the mercy rule. It was Lawhon's second walkoff hit of the series

Right-hander Dustin Letchworth picked up the win, tossing a complete game and allowing just two runs on five hits. He struck out six and walked five while forcing nine groundouts and keeping Point off balance most of the game.

The win gave the Night Hawks back-to-back run-rule victories and puts them in the drivers seat for a berth in the conference tournament.

Thomas returns to action next weekend for its final for the series of the regular season as they take on ABAC on Thursday, April 24th at 5:00PM
