TAMPA, Fla – The Thomas Night Hawks took home several honors as the Sun Confernce announced their postseason awards on Thursday afternoon.
Head Coach
Chelsea Parmer took home Coach of the Year as she led the team to an undefeated regular season and the third regular season title in program history. The Night Hawks boasted one of the best defensive units in the nation tying for second in points per game; holding opponents to only 5.1 points, first in passing yards and rushing yards per game and second in interceptions with 47.
Five Night Hawks were named first team all conference while only one was selected to second team.
Kiana Acol earned her third straight first team honor on the offensive side of the ball, catching 35 passes for 356 yards and five touchdowns.
Rusher
Kaitlyn Herb followed up her spectacular freshman season with a solid sophomore campaign with 33 pulls, 13 sacks and 10 pass breakups.
Janae Scott took home her fourth straight first team honor as the leader of the Night Hawk defense tallied 52 pulls, four sacks and five interceptions with two going back for touchdowns. Scott also earned second team honors as a back with 38 receptions for 481 yards and seven touchdowns
Gisele Jones earned her third straight selection to first team all conference as one of the top lockdown corners in the country. This season she had 26 pulls, three interceptions and 14 pass breakups as she kept the best receivers in the conference in check.
Finally,
Kiera Knight got her first all-conference selection in her career as she was a force at the safety position making 19 pulls and four interceptions with nine pass breakups.
