INDIANAPOLIS, IND – USA Football, the sport's governing body responsible for selecting, training and leading the U.S. National Teams for international competition, including the 2028 Olympics, has announced the initial 18-athlete rosters for the 2025 U.S. Women's Flag Football National Team that will defend its International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Americas Continental Flag Football Championships.  Janae Scott has been selected to the initial 18 athlete roster for the 2025 USA Women's Flag Football team, announced by USA Football this morning.
 
Scott, who has been a key part of the Thomas Flag Football team since its inaugural season in 2022, received the invite to the National Flag Football Trials held in Charlotte, N.C. on March 21-22. She competed against 59 other women for the opportunity to be selected.
 
Scott will now attend a training camp in May and from there the coaches and staff will decide who will be on the 12-man roster, while the remaining few will become alternates for the team.
 
With this honor, Scott adds another accolade to her career, as she is a multi-time SUN conference Defensive Player of the Week award winner, three-time All-SUN Conference team member and two-time SUN Champions of Character award winner.
 
Last year's U.S. Women's National Teams defended its world championship title in Lahti, Finland against the largest pool of competing international teams ever. The U.S. National Team won the first-ever Americas Continental Championships in Charlotte, N.C. in 2023. 
This year's U.S. National Teams will compete in international friendlies and the IFAF Americas Continental Championship later this year. The U.S. Women's National Team will also compete in The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China. 
"USA Football's process for establishing an athlete pathway, identifying talent and selecting the U.S. National Teams continues to raise the standard for our program," said Eric Mayes, USA Football's Managing Director of High Performance and National Teams. "The level of competition at Trials has never been higher. USA Football is very proud to welcome both new and returning athletes into the U.S. National Team family as we prepare to uphold our Gold Medal standard this summer."  
 
The U.S. National Team will hold a Training Camp from May 15-18 at the United States Performance Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. After the Training Camp, U.S. National Team coaches and staff will select the final 12-athlete rosters that will travel to international competitions. The remaining athletes will serve as alternates. USA Football will hold a final training camp in Charlotte in July.  
 
USA Football's U.S. National Team rosters feature athletes representing 11 states, including Calif., Colo., Fla., Ga., Kan., La., Md., Ohio, Pa., S.C. and Texas.
